A continuation of last week’s assignment, including the empathy map, how might we questions, and possible ideas for the app. The user personas/problem statement are in last week’s blog post.

How Might We?
The following are a list of questions that I want to consider when re-designing the MyAnimeList app:
HMW encourage users to consistently use the app?
HMW motivate users to keep a record of anime/manga they are watching?
HMW make it easy for users to discover new shows?
HMW create a space that encourages users to participate in the online community?
HMW create an experience that is seamless and fun to use?
8 Possible Ideas
These are possible ideas I’ve come up with for the app redesign based on my “how might we” questions:
- Occasional reminders when you haven’t updated a anime/manga in a while
- Reward system for using the app consistently
- A home feed with suggestions based on what you have on your list
- Discover page to find new genres
- Forums section to interact with other users
- A widget so you can easily update without having to go into the app
- Progress bar when you log how many episodes seen/chapters read
- Ability to search by genre, studio, characters , etc. (Without being too overwhelming)
Categorizing Ideas
This is how I would categorize the above ideas based on the How, Now, and Wow! matrix:
Now:
- A home feed with suggestions based on what you have on your list
- Discover page to find new genres
- Progress bar when you log how many episodes seen/chapters read
- Occasional reminders when you haven’t updated a anime/manga in a while
How:
- Reward system for using the app consistently
- Forums section to interact with other users
- Ability to search by genre, studio, characters , etc. (Without being too overwhelming)
Wow:
- A widget so you can easily update without having to go into the app
